Classwork!

Wow! How is everyone doing on this Hallow's Eve? Things are good at my household! Just finished a couple layouts, one is digi and the other traditional... just in time to think about dinner and start preparing for the little kiddies!
The first layout is for my Colour class (well actually both ended up in the Colour Gallery!)... Had tonnes of fun making this... I actually used some old scraps (big pat on the back for me!) and made some accordion flowers (as if I didn't get enough with the Halloween wreath from last week) LOL!

Supplies: My Minds Eye paper, red flowers Prima, alphabet Thickers, Brads - MME, I'm not sure where the black swirly flower paper came from but it was definitely a freebie from Treasured Memories.
The photo is from a beautiful bridesmaid arrangement of a friends wedding back in 2005.

Here is the second layout... this is for Shimelle's class and is from the prompt related to letters and numbers. Shimelle had a great idea to use numbers when creating a layout for a concert event, so I copied the idea and used it with my Van Morrison concert photos.

Digital Supplies: Kit from Jesse Edwards at Designer Digitals, Brushes from class at Jessica Sprague, Kit from Songbird Avenue (Port Au Prince).
There you have it... two fun layouts!
Have a Happy Halloween everyone!

True Stories Prompt #4

Today's prompt for Shimelle's True Stories class, was to write a letter to someone, I did not hesitate to write this while I was getting ready for work this morning... it's not a pretty letter. It was prompted after dealing with my phone company last evening and after getting nowhere with them I was completely frustrated... it felt good to get it off my chest... and I know some of you out there have had similar difficulties with this company.

Digital Layout Supplies: C. Zielske template, Papers from Port Au Prince kit at Songbird Avenue.

The journaling reads:

"Dear Telus,
Why do you have sub-par customer service? Do you actually care? You don’t. I know you don’t because if you did, I would have received a phone call from a living, breathing, speaking human being. NOT an automated telephone call saying “this is a call from Telus... we are sorry for your inconvenience, blah, blah, blah.... if you wish to discuss this further please call us at...”  Really?? You think I want to call you again?? You are calling me 2 1/2 weeks after my concern, and now after tonight again, dealing with your inefficiencies and ineptitude only has me thinking one thing.... “The Future Is” NOT “Bright” with you... and the only phone call I will be making is to SHAW.

A not so happy customer!"

A bit out of the box for me as my layouts have more a positive theme, this is a bit negative, however, it is a "True Story"!

I have an idea for Prompt #2 which is about letters and numbers, but I need to get a photo printed so I will work on that one this weekend and look forward to sharing with you.
Have a great evening!

Frequently Asked Questions?

Supplies:  Paper; Scribble Scrabble, Bella Blvd, Glitz, Journaling Cards; Jenni Bowlin, 7 Gypsies, Other;  Basic Grey - Doilies, LYB - borders, Thickers alphabet, buttons?. Sketch from Shimelle.

Here is my attempt at our very first prompt in Shimelle's True Stories class! I have never thought of this before, but it is quite funny how people really do you ask me these three questions. Shimelle is so right with writing versus typing on the computer. I wrote out my questions and answers twice and then even when I went to formally write them out on the cards, I changed some of the wording. I loved writing and scratching and crossing out things! Lots of fun.

Here are my frequently asked questions:

Q: Is Ginger your real name?
A: Yes it is - and it is not short for Virginia or Genevieve.

Q: Why did your parents name you Ginger?
A: Most people assume my mom watched Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire movies, but that is not the case... I asked my mom why? Her response was that she liked the name... as simple as that!

Q: Do you think you and Marvin will ever marry?
A: I don't believe we will - and I am okay with that! :)

Do  you have any other questions for me?

What are your frequently asked questions?

Halloween Wreath

Here is the wreath I made from Kara's class at Treasured Memories. I wasn't able to make the class so thankfully KC made me a kit... I absolutely love this!
Sophie was very interested in the ribbon... If you would like to know how to make these flowers, have a look at the Rhonna Farrer & Heidi Swapp video (hint - it's about 1 hour into the video), they are tricky to start but once you make a couple they get easier.

Hope you have an awesome week preparing for Halloween!

Grand Canyon Tour

I promised more photos of our trip to Vegas... Well as you know, I made a promise to myself that I would make seeing the Grand Canyon a priority for this trip... and so we booked a vehicle and drove there... it was breathtaking!
There is something I've always known about myself, but somehow it was more evident on this trip. I am afraid of falling off the side of a mountain... yes that is true... every time we drive through our Rocky Mountains this wave of anxiety comes over me... when driving to the Grand Canyon, as we were approaching the Hoover Dam, I had this extreme sense of anxiety as I could see over the edge... well you can just about imagine what I felt when I stood on this....

It took me at least 5 minutes to take that first step out there... the walkway has glass down the middle so you see the bottom of the canyon... hence the name "Skywalk"... The hardest part was that first step because I did not want to step on the glass... around both edges it's steel, so you do not see the canyon... therefore; I stayed walking on the edge and did not look down... They do not allow you to take any cameras out on the walk, so they have photographers that will get you to lie on the walkway while they take your photo! Once I managed to get out there I told the photographer I wanted some photos of Marv and I, but "Nothing Crazy". We bought one of us giving the "thumbs up" but I don't have a big smile! LOL! I found it easier to look down over the edge of the walkway then looking through that glass, it really freaked me out!
We only managed to see the West Rim mostly because there was lots of road construction on the way and this added an extra hour to our travels. I would suggest if you are in Vegas and want to see the Grand Canyon, leave really early in the morning (try to book a vehicle from the hotel - we booked late so we had to wait for the car rental place to open at 0830), or you could definitely take a tour and that will get you to the South Rim. The South Rim has even more beautiful views... perhaps next time!
Enjoy your weekend!

Serious Addiction

Alright... I might have a problem... I'm addicted to taking classes... Yup! That's right... okay... I know some of you are rolling your eyes saying "Geez Ginger, you just realized that?" Well, kind of... Previously, my addiction was strictly to scrapbooking... but now I think it's changed to scrapbooking and various classes related to scrapbooking, crafting and story telling... and let's not forget learning more about digi goodness! I truly cannot help myself, but then I know all of you have no problem relating right? No? Well then maybe some of you can relate... Okay all you smartie smarts... then you won't be surprised when I tell you I'm taking another class at BPC... Hey, that's not bad... in September my list was 7 classes, but I cut that down to 3... I signed up for Nic Howards "Colour! or is it Color?" class...   You're probably wondering why? Well once you see the gorgeous colors she has you using in the pre-class assignment you may think... Maybe I should take that class!

Here is a look at my tags I finished last night! My favourite is the green one!

Aren't they fun? I'm not sure what Nic has in store for us, but I knew I had to take this class when I saw how pretty her tags were. You still have time to sign up.

This weekend I am going to work on the Halloween wreath from Kara's class at Treasured Memories... I can't wait to play with my kit... I will post photos of that this weekend. I'm also taking a Vintage Christmas Card class in November with Trisha Ladouceur and I see Nadine has some Christmas Card classes as well they just posted at TM.... hmmmm anyone want to take a Christmas Card class with me?

Just started watching the new season of Dexter... I can't believe how sick he is, but whenever he is close to being caught doing his psycho stuff, I'm rooting for him... what does that make me?

I still have to watch the final episode of Mad Men... you see, I don't usually get to watch shows the day of... mostly because Marvin tapes everything! So.... I have to wait... he is methodical, what can I say (there is no watching shows out of order and he hates commercials).

That's it for tonight!

Digi Collage Class

Here is a simple collage (my very first) I completed for my digi class. I am having so much fun with this, I obviously still have lots to learn but thought I would share with you.
Digital Elements from: Anna Aspnes (Artplay Pallette 2, 3, & 4 @ Designer Digitals), Graphic Fairy (chair), Michelle Underwood ("You picked me"), OScraps (Chandelier - Moments Kit), Sweet Shoppe Designs (Firecracker word).

This is a collage of Sophie, she is a little princess who gets into lots of trouble and doesn't like to be told what to do.

I hope you have all enjoyed your weekend!

The Secret is Out!

For those of you who know Anam Stubbington you will agree she is very talented at her craft and so you can imagine how thrilled I was when she asked me to be a part of her "Secret Project". Anam has created Sketches 2 Scrapbook which is an iphone/ipad app. In early November you will be able to download the app and go to your crop night and be able to find a sketch that suits your needs... there will be over 100 sketches available! How genius is that?? Soon I will be able to share with you the layouts I did of Anam's beautiful sketches. In the meantime have a look at the Sketches 2 Scrapbook blog. You can also check out the Facebook page and she has started a Twitter site as well!

Hello Saturday!

We got back late last night from Vegas... I managed to crawl into bed at 2:30 this morning... I was suppose to go to a class this morning at TM but with the late night and a bad cough... I knew it wasn't manageable... I also have to get ready for Aunt Linda & Uncle Cal's 50th Anniversary this afternoon...

Here are a few photos from the trip... Vegas baby... there is nothing like it... in fact it is one of those places you can go to and not even think... there is so much environmental stimulation surrounding you that you can just sit and relax, take it all in... you don't even have to go very far... you could stay at your hotel and unwind at the pool or have a spa treatment, or you could try to hit as many hotels as you want and see what they have to offer... There is lots of shopping and tonnes of shows to see... We stayed at the Aria... it is fantastic... it has beautiful architectural design with lots of lines and amazing curves... if I was going to go back to Vegas tomorrow... I would definitely stay at the Aria... very modern and hip.

When we arrived we settled in and had dinner at Todd English's Pub. We shared oysters, chicken wings, an AMAZING iceberg lettuce wedge salad that had avocado, egg, and warm bacon vinaigrette dressing... I had a pastrami sandwich that was tasty.
I love the strip at night....
Beautiful and whimsical cakes at the "Patisserie" (at the Aria).
I will share more photos later... I hope you all have a wonderful Saturday!

Happy Thanksgiving!

We had Turkey Dinner last night at Arlene's... it was wonderful....
Thanksgiving is a time we look back at all that we are thankful for... Here are my thoughts on what I am most thankful for:
  • Marvin - for making me laugh when I need to, and for "keeping it real"
  • My animals, they make my life rich by taking away any stress I might come home from. (They also make me laugh).
  • My health...
  • My home...
  • My friends and family...
Here are a few photos from the evening.... Someone looks excited to eat.... Torrie?

Hope all of you enjoy your Thanksgiving weekend...

What's Up Buttercup?

Hello everyone! How are things going out there? I'm so happy the weather is beautiful, it's nice to see the sun and feel some warmth! Yay! I thought I would change my blog look for the upcoming festivities... Thanksgiving is my favourite holiday... last year I was sick with bronchitis and this year I'm going to live it up... I promise... I will be celebrating with family... Arlene is making turkey and stuffing, I will be bringing brussels sprouts (roasted with bacon and apples) mmm... I cannot wait. Do you have special plans for the weekend?

Soon we will be going on our Vegas trip... Yippee! I am so looking forward to getting away and having fun...
My biggest thrill is going to be the Grand Canyon... This is my 3rd time to Vegas and I am making the Grand Canyon my top priority...

If I have enough courage, I will do this....! I will make that decision when I get there...
Happy Wednesday everyone!
