Sunday Musings...

Here we are...it's Sunday and the weekend is flying by! Yesterday I was able to get some housework done and mow the lawn! Yes... the lawn...Marvin left me a message Friday afternoon at work... "Hon...call me... I got some disturbing news to share"... Now, when someone leaves you a message like that...what would you think?...I was thinking...oh no...someone we know is a mass murderer and I will be shocked to find out who it is... or maybe they found a dead body in the back of a vehicle at his work... to me...that would be disturbing...So, when I did call him back (immediately upon receiving the message) he told me his visit with the chiropractor went well, but he would not be able to mow the lawn for a couple weeks and I would have to do it...wow, let me get my disturbing thinking cap off... not that exciting eh? Ahhh yes this is the man I love and am spending the rest of my life with... (and he doesn't believe me when I tell him his is full of drama!).

After finishing up the yard work and such we got ready to go out for dinner with our friends Ryan & Arianna and we went to the Vita Bella, you can check it out here. It was soooo good!! I had the Caprese salad (little bocconcino and prosuitto, with basil and olive oil), and shared the calamari (was a light batter with an amazing spicy tomato and basil dip). Then for the main course I had the Veal Cannelloni with the Mushroom Cream sauce....ohhh let me just say...that cream sauce was... Amazing! So if you are looking for a new restaurant to check out... I highly recommend...

On to other things... So Camp Scrap has started at BPS... you still have time to sign up!
Here is my LO based on a 2 page sketch May provided us with on Friday.

This is our apple tree we have in our backyard... It is so pretty when it blooms...

That's it for now! Have a wonderful day!

Good Time in the Country!

Last night we had a staff BBQ at a colleague's home and it was breathtaking! We took a 30 min drive into the country and were mesmerized by what we saw. I could not believe how beautiful and peaceful Diane's home was...I felt like I was taking a vacation...her yard is beautiful with lush green lawn, bushes and ferns... oh the ferns...I LOVE ferns and these ones were at least 4.5 feet tall. She is surrounded by forest, where after it finished raining we took a lovely walk on some awesome trails that she keeps well manicured. The huge storm we had last summer tore down 100 of her trees which she and Leon have managed to chop down half of  (some of these were 200 years old). While we were walking we came upon a clearing where I caught my breath and could not believe what I saw... her neighbor has a pasture where 4 gorgeous horses came galloping up to the fence...I wished I had my camera!! It was difficult to get my arm through the electric fence to pet them...oh, I wanted to stand there forever and watch them... I thought how lucky Diane is to have this treasure to come home to daily and to sit on her deck, have a glass of wine and be surrounded by the sound of the trees moving in the wind, and the hawks singing (I don't know what hawks do - is it sing, caw... what is the word for what they do??). I digress... She made a bonfire and for the first time I had a Smore which was fun to make and eat! She has the most adorable black and white cat named Whoopee, and a beautiful and attentive dog named Koda.... I told Marv I would love to live in a place like this and he agreed, but then reminded me how much work it was to just even cut the lawn and the long drive to work is not appealing... my solution... I could quit my job, stay home, cut the lawn then scrapbook all day!! Ha!  Well, I am very sorry I did not take my camera last night as I would love to have had some photos to scrap  and share with you on how enjoyable the evening was.

I do have one LO to share with you. This is of a Becky Fleck sketch from PageMaps. It is another LO for Dimensional Details Class. I included it with Camp Scrap because May challenged us to scrap one layout the other night and this is what I finished up with.

Have a great weekend everyone!!

TM Sale!!

If you have not heard... Treasured Memories is having a 30% off sale this week because they will be closed next week for inventory! Yippee! So I have already been down there and bought some of the wonderful Claudine Hellmuth paints.... This is my most absolute favourite color....
I promised myself I would take a break from Big Picture Scrapbooking after the Dimensional Details class, however....there are two classes that I cannot not take! Does that make sense?? The first is Claudine Hellmuth's "@ Home with Claudine", which in my opinion is something completely different than what I have been doing for the last 7 months...it includes paint and canvas and techniques for mixed media projects...so yes, I have signed up! This is a 12 week class, but with BPS the best part is you have forever access to the material and can always go back to it if you are unable to commit to their schedule. Awesomeness!

So I said their were two classes...well, the second class I signed up for is May Flaum's Camp Scrap! I love May...I took her Hybrid class and was thrilled with all the information she gave. The other reason I signed up for Camp Scrap is it is only 4 weeks long...(there is a bonus week - so actually it is 5 weeks). Camp is about May providing the inspiration and you doing as many or as little layouts as you want. She will have prizes and daily inspirations to jump start your scrapbooking mojo!

So there you have it...my creative juices are flowing just thinking about what is coming....

Here is a layout I made on the weekend... The red you see on the transparency is a reflection of the red shirt I was wearing while taking the photo! This LO is of Marvin's family, some pictures at his parents 50th Anniversary.

Tonight we are going to see Boz Scaggs at the Jubilee...Really looking forward to it... I guess I didn't blog about last weeks concert...Tom Petty and Joe Cocker were AMAZING!! Loved every minute, couldn't stop dancing and singing, every song was a hit!

That's all for now!  Have a great night everyone!

Dimensional Details Week 10

Just a couple more weeks left on the Dimensional Details class I am taking and here is this weeks layout. I used some photos I had of Carmen and John's engagement.
This weeks assignment was about clustering...That heart looks so orange in this photo, but is red in real life... This layout has some digital components... the journaling block and blue butterfly was a free download for this weeks assignment. It comes from Louise Williams . I love both pieces! The paper is all from Basic Grey, and the little red flowers are from Lisa's goodie bag she sent me for our supply swap... The heart is a Riff Raff piece that I painted and then sanded and added a tiny bit of stickles. The other embellishments are all from Prima...

So there you have it!

Have a wonderful evening everyone!

Spatchcocked Chicken!

So here it is Sunday night and I thought I would share with you what we were up to today. We made "Spatchcocked Chicken" for dinner...mmm it was tastey... here are some shots....
While Marvin was preparing the chicken I pulled out the ice cream maker and made banana ice cream. We were talking about how we have had the ice cream maker for about 4 years and have used it only about 5 times. It is so easy to use and if you are looking for one I highly recommend the Cuisinart. I have not tried making frozen yogurt, but that will be the next time.
You can see the ice cream churning away here.
Here is the chicken on the egg! Marvin cut the back off completely and this way the chicken is flattened and easier to grill.
I made and amazing red rice (used salsa and chicken broth then cooked it in the oven), and roasted the cauliflower & red peppers after tossing with olive oil and smoked praprika! It was so good.
And to finish it off, we had the ice cream for dessert (sorry, the photo is a bit out of focus).

I hope your weekend was as wonderful as ours!

New Layouts!

I have to admit, I have not been feeling very motivated with my scrapbooking lately. I'm still taking the Dimensional Details class, and although the class is awesome, I have just been making 1 layout a week so I can keep up.

I don't usually use purple in layouts but I really like it with the papers here. The paper used here is from Webster's pages and I used a script stamp on a MME paper for the background. The Basic Grey lace doilie I cut to fit it on the page then took some distress inks and chalk to give it a different look. The creme colored damask embellishments are from Heidi Swapp and the sticker letters were covered with stickles. I really like how it turned out.

The second layout is hybrid and was one I had done for my Textuality class (which had been finished for a couple weeks) and I thought I had posted this already, but apparently I did not!
I love this Basic Grey paper. The greens and yellows are so vibrant. I scanned these photos and am thrilled with how well they came out.

So that is it for now, hope you all have a great night!!

Season Finales

Well I can't believe it is already June! Whew... where is the time going?? All the season finales have happened...

Marvin and I just finished watching my favourite show "The Good Wife" ... I LOVE this show!! I can't decide though who I want her to be with... I really like Will, but then I'm a huge Chris Noth fan!!
I guess we all have to wait until this fall!

"24" is my other favourite must watch every week... I'm sad to see it finished, but they did a great job this season of keeping me pinned to the tv set... happy to hear there will be a movie coming out soon.

Looking forward to "True Blood"!! The new season starts June 13th.

Happy TV watching!
