Weekend Highlights...

Hello my fellow friends and bloggers...
Here we are...it's Sunday again and I have to say...time flies by when your having fun!

Friday night we headed to the wonderful Winspear Centre to see one of our favourite bands...
Los Lonely Boys... When were walking thru the LRT Station to get to the show Marv said, "it's pretty quiet here, I wonder if the show is canceled"... and then when we got to the doors we realized why there were no people! The concert had been canceled!! We were pretty disappointed and surprised we had not heard anything (Marvin reads the paper every day and would not have missed this had it been there)...We did find out the tour has been canceled related to one of the members having lesions on his vocal cords...which is a fairly significant...more so than our disappointment...so we hope he is taken care of and that they will continue with the tour at some point....

Saturday morning I got up early and went to the gym... I ran in to my friend Tammy and we had a nice visit on the treadmills...and I stayed longer because of it!! Yeah me!

Saturday evening we hooked up with our good friends Jen & Darren and had dinner at the Copperpot. The food was "okay", the view was lovely overlooking Ezio Farone Park & the Legislature, but I would not go back. We had so much fun though, Darren is quite entertaining...we had many laughs. We also talked about my 40th birthday and what we might do to celebrate. It's Jen's 30th coming up very soon, so it looks like we might go to Vegas in September or October!! We have to sort out the dates first...

Today I was planning to go to the gym, might go a bit later, but I really wanted to relax and have a fun day. I've got a chicken in the pot right now to make some home made chicken soup! My mom makes awesome chicken soup...we like to make it too, it's been awhile and today looks like a great day for soup!

Well, it's that time...I have a couple layouts to share, both are from my Dimensional Details class with Nic Howard, the layouts are based on her design.

I love the colors of this layout...The idea for the layout was to use alphabet stickers as a background. I had leftover Sassafrass Lass stickers from a couple years ago, and I love how it turned out. I also used KI memories lace paper and Basic Grey (Marrakech) paper and stickers.

The second layout was fun to do as well....

For this layout we were to ink the area behind the photo, this is meant to bring the focus to the picture. I had problems with the inking, I felt it was kind of like a big dark blob behind the photo (might have something to do with the darkness of it), so I altered it by stamping some images and then ultimately put some paint on it. I like how it turned out... Used Upsey Daisy, Crate Paper, & Bo Bunny papers; flowers, ribbon & felt letters are all Prima; Chipboard piece is Heidi Swapp.

That is it for today! Next weekend I am at Treasured Memories for National Scrapbooking Day! So I have to start planning for it now...

Have a great Sunday everyone!

Cold... no not that kinda cold! Sniff...

Well here I am catching the first cold of the season! Marvin was sick this past week with a sinus cold, and now I seem to have caught it, so not much work going on here... I did manage to come up with one layout for my class and I will share it with you here.
If there is one thing I know for sure from taking this class at BPS - I sure am using my stash of supplies, which is a real good thing!  We learned more about layering, I have 6 patterned papers here... whoo weee!. Too bad the photos on the LO are so dark, but I wasn't feeling like making any changes.... so the papers I used here are MME, KI Memories, Doodlebug, Basic Grey and the white one with the pattern on it, is a paper I stamped with coral color to match the background papers. Letters are Thickers and the journaling card is from a freebie kit from Elle's Studio... and the flowers, as always...from Prima!

Seriously, that's about all I have for now, I need to take a nap... Have a great Sunday!

What's New?

Hi there! I thought I would get an early start on my day... We are headed to Marv's parents this morning... so I will try to get as much into this post as I can!

I wanted to share with you the layouts I did this week!  If you have not already checked out the new blog at Treasured Memories, Trends and Techniques - please do, because it has awesome information! It's also cool because they have a Flickr Group as well, so you can look at the techniques and make your layout and then share it with the group! Lots of fun!
This layout uses glimmer mist sprayed over a mask - you can see how it gives you this cool image. I love it. Also used 7Gypsies paper, Thickers, Basic Grey pearls and Riff Raff.

Here is my second layout...

I love this photograph of my nephews Gavin and Preston... For this I used a Heidi Swapp mask for the stars and then used my distress inks to get the orange color and then stamped it up with all my little prima stamps. The papers are leftovers from my stash, letters are Thickers, the tiny letters & decorative corner are from the April kit (Spring Fever) at Treasured Memories.

This is the third layout from this past week... this one I agonized over for hours... ha! It's the clustering...sometimes it comes easy and other times...lets just say...you don't want to know how long it took to make this page...
I like how it turned out, sorry, the color is off (we did not have much sunlight this week, so it's taken on my floor on a cloudy day! - I sooo need a scanner). The paper is My Minds Eye, KI memories, & Marie Frances, the alphabet is Maya Road (I distressed inked them, then embossed with clear powder). I have been saving the coffee cup from Riff Raff and I love the way it looks! Flowers are prima and the gold rubon is from Jenni Bowlin.

So that's what I have for you today, I hope you all enjoy your Sunday!

Morning Glory... and Bikinis!

Here are a couple of layouts I finished this weekend...

I do remember mom taking this photo of us and I was holding a card that had a picture of a cat on it and the cat looked just like my kitty (at that age I thought it was my cat)... and there you have proof that I grew up a cat lover!!

This layout is scraplifted from May Flaum, I wish I could show you her original page - it is so pretty... Anyway, I love this photo of Curtis and me. I photoshopped by adding a mask from Katie Pertiet and I added a cream colored digital page behind it so I would have a 4x6 photo.  I also boosted the color in photoshop using the Pioneer Women's technique. I really love how the photo turned out. The title was sooo much fun to make! I did it in photoshop by pulling together a couple of pages from a free digi kit by Anna Aspnes.  I then took the Katie Pertiet Ledger Mixed Monograms letters to make the "morning" part of the title (I used a black pen to outline the letters so they are more visible). I printed that off and placed it on the pink paper which is printed off from the same kit. The polka dot paper is from Webster's Pages which I got from a kit at Treasured Memories. Then I embellished it with those gorgeous Jenni Bowlin butterflies I purchased the other night at TM, also my friend Jen had a Martha Stewart butterfly punch (which is on my list to purchase).  The captured moments tag is from a freebie digi kit I got with my hybrid class, it too is from the fabulous Katie Pertiet.

Well, here is the second layout... with me wearing a bikini! Ha Ha! Yes, it is the only time I ever wore one...

This layout idea is from the Dimensional Details class I am taking at Big Picture Scrapbooking... You still have time to sign up!
Nic Howard teaches her technique on curling, how to get the edges of the paper to look shabby... really it's very easy, just use water and curl the paper...The photo has an overlay on it (I was experimenting). I used Basic Grey paper, Studio Calico paper (which I stamped with Tim Holtz stamps and a prima polka dot stamp). Riff Raff chipboard embossed with "Zing", Prima flowers, buttons from my stash, Thickers letters, and the fabulous Tim Holtz film strip.

Well that is about it, I hope you have found some inspiration here!  I am off to sweat at the gym... Ciao!

Happy Easter

I have found a vintage clipart from the Graphics Fairy...I remember as a kid we would go to our grandparents home after church on Good Friday and color eggs... how fun it was to color them and see the patterns thru the bright colors... Easter Sunday we would come home after church and look for our Easter baskets and mom would have an amazing dinner (usually ham)...

Happy Easter to everyone!
