Only 1 Month To Go

So I was looking at the calendar the other day and realized I only have one month to finish the scrapbook for M & D...Yikes!! So I thought I would share some pages I have finished. (I'm still learning how to upload the pics on here, so they might not be perfect).

Kim (Jamie), Tanya (Brad) and Nathan (Anja)...the Grandchildren. Sorry, it's suppose to be Then (first), Now (second)...

I love the picture of Kim and Tanya in the middle of this page...not sure what Tanya is doing?? Rolling her socks down, or trying to pull them up?

I love my new prima newsprint stamp, you can see it on the large flower below...it's so awesome, you can use whatever color ink you want to match with your projects! I love Riff Raff (the heart, & word "Happy"). You can see Riff Raff here http://riffraffdesigns.typepad.com/ They have the best chipboard designs!

This 50th Anniversary page is scraplifted, I cannot remember where I got the sketch from (I know I need to start paying attention to that if I am putting my stuff online - as credit needs to be given where credit is due!). I love the combination of colors and the red really pops out. This will be the front page...

Good Times

Well, I have to say this was the busiest week I have had in a very long time! It started out with a very cool class at Treasured Memories. Trisha Ladouceur had a Trinket's & Treasures class that my friend Brenda and I went to...we had a blast! I don't have any pics but check out Trisha's blog  She is lots of fun!  Then on Wednesday night we went to the Fleetwood Mac concert!!! I love love love Stevie Nicks! She is my ultimate favourite female singer hands down. I can remember when my sister Arlene bought Stevie's first solo album "Bella Donna" when I was 10 years old, to me she was magical with her witchy dresses and poetic lyrics. Lindsay Buckingham pretty much stole the show with his talented guitar solos...wow, it was one hit after another and I sang along to every song...

Friday night we went to Nav's 40th Birthday party! Her husband works with Marvin, it was nice to share the evening with them.
Saturday afternoon I had a get together with some friends and then we had Brian and his girlfriend Julie over for dinner. Marvin really outdid himself, smoked beef ribs on the green egg, BBQ'd wild salmon, green beans, smashed potatoes with garlic, and grilled garlic bread...lipsmacking. Lorenzo showed up as well and we shared some laughs and good times!

Julie is so sweet, she made an awesome brownie cake with whipped cream and strawberries, she also brought me a beautiful flower arrangement (which Sophie could not keep her little paws off - she even ate some of the flowers and then proceeded to puke them up...bad kitty!). Julie works at a flower shop on Whyte Ave, and I cannot remember the name of it, otherwise I would share the link. Isn't it pretty?

Mom's Surgery

So, here I am at home (in Saskatchewan)...Mom had her surgery yesterday...and she is doing very well. Boy, who knew I'd have to use my skills as a home care nurse on my mom! The surgeon was very nice and he told us the it went really well. He told mom, "well you didn't even have much fat to remove", mom thought that was comical...(she is tiny and chubby...) She had great care at the St. Paul's Hospital, and they were kind to us (it can be a bit much when 8 family members come in with a patient, but I have to say, the staff were great).

Where Does Time Go??

Wow, I cannot believe it's already June16th!! Craziness, that means the days will be getting shorter soon, oichka!
So tomorrow after work Carmen, Arlene and I are heading to Saskatoon for mom's surgery. She is having a mastectomy on Thursday... it has been exactly 4 weeks since we heard the bad news. Mom has been amazing thru this process, I find she has been more consoling to us then us to her...go figure. She wants me to go with her on Thursday morning to the University Hospital for her nuclear medicine appointment. Once she is finished then we have to drive over the St. Paul's hospital which is where she is having the surgery. She will likely be discharged on Friday and we will spend the weekend with her at home.

Carmen bought mom 6 hats, I can't wait to see what they look like...I on the other hand bought scarves...but now I'm wondering if scarves are appropriate as she may find it difficult reaching to tie them...will see.

Here is a picture of the get well card I made... Too bad I can't figure out how to turn it! (Sorry, still learning how to post blogs, hee hee!).

I will leave you with a picture of mom and dad, this is the picture we put in the paper for their 50th wedding anniversary last week...

The 50th Anniversary Book!

So I have been preparing for just over a year now for mom and
dad's 50th wedding anniversary, by making a scrapbook. It has been quite a process and I have enjoyed every step. Even though the actual date was just this week (June 10th) we will be celebrating the long weekend of August. Here are some scrap pages I have made thus far...

All of the pages are 12 x 12. I really like this picture of mom looking out the window with her dress hanging up in the background. How amazing it is to see her at this moment (I wonder what was going thru her mind - I will have to remember to ask her).

Here is a layout of dad getting into the decked out wedding car!
Love it!

Here is a close up of some of the embelishments. This was probably one of the most simple layouts I have created, but I really love how it turned out.

The gate gives you the feel like you are really looking thru it.

Stay Calm Be Brave

Yesterday morning I went downstairs to let the animals out and I noticed Norman wasn't coming up. I decided to check it out, and what I saw was some nastiness and a what looked like a very sick kitty. My heart immediately dropped to the pit of my stomach, as it always does when any of the animals becomes ill. I went upstairs and told Marvin that Normie needed to go to the vet and his response is always the same "we are not paying for a sick cat" and I always respond with "he needs a diagnosis and then we will decide what needs to be done". I understand where Marvin is coming from, he grew up with animals on the farm, and of course the animals fended for themselves, and that is just the way it is growing up in the country. I know because I lived this life as well, except, I was always the super sensitive kid that cried everytime any animal died.

To make a long story short, Norman is going to be okay, it looks like he has some sort of GI irritation and so we have him on a special diet for the next few days to see if this helps.

We recently had a staff meeting and my boss brought up a quote from CBC's "The Dead Dog Cafe Comedy Hour", Stay Calm, Be Brave, Wait for the Signs. Wendy (my boss) is probably the most positive person I know, and so when she sent out the link yesterday afternoon to us at work, it really made sense to me. Sometimes when we have so many things going on in our personal lives it is easy to get upset and worried about what might happen, but really these are strong words to live by.

Heidi Swapp!!%#

Well here we go! Over a week ago I had the pleasure of meeting Heidi Swapp...! Yes, Heidi, the Diva of all Scrapbookers . She was completely amazing and after listening to her speak, I felt a strong desire to do more than I am, creatively speaking that is. One of the things I have been thinking of starting, is a blog. I was so unsure of myself, I mean, I spend lots of time looking and reading other people's blogs and enjoy it, I never thought though, that I would create my own blog, what would I say?? Who will read it?? Then... I heard Heidi. She says people today want to do more than just one thing and they don't want to be known as only a scrapper, or a stamper... I agree with this completely. I want to scrapbook, but I also want to paint on canvas, I want to make collages, I want to learn how to use Adobe photoshop, I want to be a better photographer, I WANT TO CREATE! Heidi also talked about her mother starting a blog, and I never thought of it before, but it really is a journal of one's life, and even if noone ever reads this blog, I will know, I can always look back at the things that I have written, and see where I have come from... So, here I am. I am so excited!
